Responsible for managing financial transactions, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations within the tourism industry. This role requires close collaboration with tour operators, travel agencies, and hospitality businesses to maintain accurate financial records and support business decision-making. The accountant may also conduct field audits and financial reviews of tourism sites, ensuring financial integrity and efficiency in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Maintain financial records, process invoices, and reconcile accounts related to tourism operations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and expense forecasts for tourism projects and businesses.
- Cost Control & Analysis: Monitor tourism-related expenses, ensure cost efficiency, and provide financial recommendations.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and industry regulations.
- Revenue Tracking: Oversee cash flow management, track ticket sales, accommodation revenues, and travel agency commissions.
- Field Audits: Conduct on-site financial inspections at hotels, resorts, tour companies, and other tourism establishments.
- Payroll & Vendor Payments: Manage employee payroll for tourism staff and process payments for vendors and suppliers.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare financial statements, profit and loss reports, and present findings to management.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks and propose solutions to mitigate them.
- Collaboration: Work closely with tourism business owners, travel agencies, and government tourism boards to improve financial efficiency.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Odoo).
- Familiarity with tourism industry financial operations, including tour costing and hotel revenue management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and conduct field audits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements in the tourism sector.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects.
- Knowledge of international tourism financial regulations (if applicable).
